Rules and Guidelines: Auction 2008
This semi-silent auction is to benefit the programs, classes and facilities of the Hayward Area Recreation District's PhotoCentral. We thank the artists and galleries for so generously donating their work, our donors for financial support, and our many volunteers who have given of their time and energy to make this event a success.

Below are rules and guidelines for the bidding process:
•·Minimum bids and increments will be posted next to each image at PhotoCentral. Increments can be skipped and the bidder may choose any higher increment. Example: If bid is $200 and the increment is $20, bidder would have the choice of bidding $220 or above in $20 steps.
• Faxed bids and “close it now” bids must be received by 9:00 pm on Friday, May 16. Successful absentee bids must be paid for by MasterCard or Visa. No bids will be taken over the phone.
•·Items may be picked up at the close of bidding on Saturday, May 17 or between 5 pm and 10 pm Monday, May 19. Any pieces not paid for by Monday, May 19 at 10 pm will be offered to the next highest bidder.
• “Close it now!” bids at the designated price will be taken in the order received and must be paid for immediately by VISA, MasterCard, or Cash. Checks are not accepted for “Close It Now.” Any “close it now” not paid for by 4 pm on Saturday, May 17, will be re-opened for bidding.
•·If matching bids have been entered by two or more parties, the first bid received will take preference. In the event of discrepancy, a runoff may be chosen at the discretion of the
Auction Coordinators.
•·Work can be viewed at the Website Auction Gallery at
http://www.photocentral.org or in person at PhotoCentral.
•·All merchandise is sold “AS IS.” PhotoCentral and the Hayward Area Recreation District make no claims as to the condition of any merchandise sold. Prospective purchasers should inspect the property to determine its condition before bidding.
•· Preferrd payment method is Visa/MasterCard. Cash & Checks will be accepted on site. Purchases can be shipped for an additional $60 for most merchandise. If packing and handling of purchases is done by PhotoCentral, it is done entirely at the risk of the purchaser.
•·Faxed bids will be accepted through at 9:00 pm on Friday, May 16. On-site bidding continues until item closes on Saturday, May 17. Bidding on first lot will begin closing at approximately 4 pm. Each piece closes as the Auction Coordinators remove the bid form from the wall. Bidding on the second lot will close at approximately 5:45 pm. Bidding on the last lot will close at approximately 7:00 pm. (As this is a fundraiser, we reserve the right to encourage, cajole and wait for the audience to finish bidding before removing the bidform!)
•·Artists may request the name and address of the collector who purchases their work, unless confidentiality is requested by the purchaser.
•·All sales are final and the decision of the auction coordinators as to final bid will be conclusive.
